What is a lace wig?
A lace wig is a wig which has a mesh like lace base in either just the front (lace front wig) or all around (full lace wig). A full lace wig allows you to wear high pony tails whereas a lace front only wig usually will not. The lace around the wig creates a very realistic looking hairline causing the wig hair to look as if it is actually growing out of your scalp.
I have Health Care Insurance and they pay for wigs up to 500.00. How would I handle this? Do I pay for the wig first or can you bill my insurance with a claim form that I have then that way I wont have to come out of pocket?
We do not process insurance claims. You will have to pay for your wig first and get reimbursed by your insurance company.
How long does it take for the wig to ship?
Custom Orders – Custom orders take on average 25 -30 days to complete. Once your wig is completed – it will be shipped to you via Priority (Domestic) or Express (International) mail . You will be notified when your wig ships out and sent tracking information. You will be required to sign for the package upon delivery.
Stock Orders – stock wigs ship out from our production facility within 2 business days of payment clearance/posting unless otherwise noted. If you pay via credit card please note that even though your credit transaction is approved, we do not receive the funds immediately. Depending on your bank, it can take 1 to 3 business days for your payment to actually post to our bank. Your stock wig will shipped via Priority (Domestic) or Express (International) mail. You will be notified when your order ships and provided with a shipment tracking number. You will be required to sign for the package upon delivery.
How long can lace wigs be worn?
High quality lace wigs such as ours, can be worn from 6 months to one year with proper care.
I have dry scalp. Can I grease my scalp under my wig?
Any type of oil will cause adhesives to resist bonding. Try using moisturizing shampoos and conditioners to control dry scalps instead of oils.
What is the difference between machine-made and hand-made hair loss wigs?
Machine-made wigs are usually less expensive than hand-made pieces. In most styles the hair fibers are machine sewn onto a “weft” in a fixed pattern. The wefts are then assembled together on an open net base. Generally this type of construction is worn by persons who have some hair, as you can see through the wefts when the wind blows. Hand-made methods involve hand knotting on a net base or hand inserting into a custom molded base. Hand construction methods usually provide a more random and natural appearance. Most hand knotting or implantation is done overseas as the process is tedious and very labor intensive. On some hairpieces, there are over 140,000 individual hair shafts that need to be inserted. All of our hair replacement lace wigs are hand-made.
What is the difference between the French and Swiss Lace?
The French Lace is more thicker than the Swiss lace and therefore a little more durable. The Swiss lace is slightly thinner, and a little less detectable, however it is not as durable as the French lace and rips easier. It’s hard to tell the difference between the two. Both are undetectable. Most people order the French Lace. The Swiss Lace is not recommended for first time users. It is best to learn how to apply the wig and become skilled at the application prior to advancing to the Swiss Lace.
What is Thin Skin?
Thin skin is blend of polyurethane materials and imitates the appearance of skin. However, it is best used in cooler climates at it does not allow your scalp to breath like the full lace cap. Thin skin is best for bang hair-do styles as it is more difficult to pull off the invisible hairline appearance because the thin skin does not blend into your scalp as well as an all lace wig…especially true for non-white skin tones. If you have never seen or worn a thin skin unit before then we recommend that you go with an all lace wig.
Can I wear the hair in up do styles?
Full lace wigs can be worn in up-do styles. Full lace wigs allow maximum styling versatility, including the ability to wear the hair in up-do styles. Some of our wig caps, such as the “Glueless” cap, and a few others that do not require adhesive in the nape area do, however, prevent you from wearing a high ponytail. Can I swim or go to the gym and sweat with this wig on?
You can do your usual activities with this wig on. You will need to avoid swimming or sweating for the first 24 hours after applying your unit. Excessive exposure to chlorine and salt water can cause damage to the hair of lace wigs. If you go swimming, wear a swim cap and wash your hair asap afterwards. Try to limit exposure to chlorinated and/ or salt water.
Do I have to wear makeup to hide the lace?
No, the lace should be cut back to your hairline and attached to your scalp with either liquid or tape wig adhesive. If you do this and the lace is the right shade, it will be undetectable.
How do I apply the wig?
You will attach your lace wig using either liquid or tape wig adhesive unless it is a glueless lace wig. If you are new to wearing lace wigs, just go to Youtube and do a search using the key words “how to apply a lace wig.” There are a ton of videos that demonstrate how to apply a lace wig.
What’s better, Glue or Tape?
This is a matter of personal preference. You should try attaching your wig using both techniques to find the best method for you.
Does the straight hair become wavy when it is wet?
Our silky straight hair texture will wave up when it is wet. The Yaki and kinky straight textures do not wave up when wet.
What is the difference between Yaki and Natural Straight hair textures?
Yaki/kinky is a processed hair texture in which a micro kink is added to the hair strands to mimic Africa-American relaxed hair.
Natural straight is the natural texture of the hair as it comes from the donor and resembles Caucasian hair texture.
Which adhesive is best for bonding your full lace wig hair replacement systems?
There is no one adhesive that works perfectly on a universal basis for everyone. Adhesives work differently for individuals according to ones body chemistry, lifestyle, and expertise in application. Adhesive tapes are easier to apply than liquid adhesives but liquid adhesives such as Walker Liqui-Tape generally offer the longest bonding times but can be messy to apply and turn white under the application if applied too thickly. If you are new to wearing hair replacement lace wigs we suggest that you experiment with several different adhesives and adhesive methods until you find the combination that works best for you.
Do yaki and kinky textured wigs retain their hair texture after washing several times? Yes.
I can not keep the back from detaching. Any recommendations?
The nape area can be difficult for some to keep secure due to constant up and down movement of the head. If you have this problem, we suggest that you layer 2 or 3 adhesives in the back. For example, a layer of Safe Grip liquid adhesive; a layer of adhesive tapes, and another layer of Safe Grip liquid adhesive. You can alternative or create new layering adhesive methods until you find which works best for your body chemistry and lifestyle.
Can you use spritz on wigs?
You can use spritz, however, make sure all styling products are low or absent of alcohol content, as alcohol will dry out the hair, cause shedding, breaking and tangling.
How often should you use knot sealer on a wig so that it won’t shed? And how much shedding is normal if any?
We seal all knots at the factory so you don’t need to seal them again. Using knot sealers on new wigs can actually damage the hair and cause dryness, breakage and premature shedding. Wigs normally shed 20 to 50 hairs a day. For this reason, they will generally need hair re-ventilation in 6 months to one year.
What is the difference between processed and unprocessed human hair?
Processed hair – Is hair that has undergone one or more chemical processes in an attempt to change its outward appearance. Most processed hair used in the manufacturing of hairpieces is of Indian, Indonesian or Chinese origin, because of its availability and affordable cost. This hair is naturally black, coarse and straight. Chemical processing typically involves lifting of color (bleach), depositing of new color (dye), permanent curling (perm), and finally, stripping the hair of its outside cuticle layer (de-cuticulized).
Unprocessed Hair – Unprocessed hair is the finest quality hair available because it requires no chemical processing. This hair is gathered in ponytails which are blended and matched according to color, length, texture and curl pattern. It takes up to 12 unprocessed ponytails to manufacture one hairpiece! Because of its quality, unprocessed hair is the most expensive. It also has a much longer life expectancy. This hair is carefully blended without disturbing the cuticle direction, resulting in tangle-free styling. Fewer repairs and chemical processes are needed because of the healthy hair shaft.
How often should I wash my wig?
Frequency of cleaning will depend on your environment, lifestyle and amount of perspiration. Suggested guidelines for cleaning are after 10 to 14 days of wear.
Can the wig be parted anywhere?
Yes, if you order a FULL lace wig and choose the “Freestyle” part option on the Wig Order Form.
What are Bleached Knots?
Bleached knots is a technique where they bleach out the knot that is made when each strand of hair is hand-tied into the lace at the base of the cap. It bleaches the knot out, making it a little lighter so that it does not stand out as much. It gives it a more natural appearance as though the hairs are growing out of the scalp. This is recommended when you choice a dark hair color.
What does Density mean?
Density is defined as how thick or thin you want your hair to be.
What is Remy Hair?
Remy hair is human hair from a single donor that has not been stripped of its cuticles and the roots of each strand of the hair are aligned in the same direction.
Can the Wavy and Curly Units be Flat Ironed or Hot Curled?
The hair in Wavy/curly units has to be processed in order to achieve that texture. Just as you should use heat products sparingly on your own hair when it has been chemically processed to avoid damage to the hair the same holds true for your human hair wig. The only units that can be hot curled or flat ironed without concern for over-processing are the Natural hair textures. If you plan on applying a lot of heat to your wig and you want to get maximum usage then you should order an unprocessed wig…this means a natural straight texture in a natural dark color.
What is Virgin Hair?
Virgin hair is hair that has not been chemically processed in any way.
What is silk top lace wig?
A silk top lace wig consists of a layer of lace and silk fabric that is placed on the top front of the wig cap. When the hair strands are being ventilated, the knots are hidden below the silk concealed between the layers, the hair is then injected through the silk material. This method of ventilating makes the knots 100% invisible and gives you a very realistic and flawless looking parting area and eliminates the need to bleach the knots.
What color lace is best suited to my skin tone?
You want to match the lace color with your scalp complexion not your skin tone. This is because when you part the unit, you want it to appear as your natural scalp color. So to check your scalp color part your hair and look at the color of your scalp to determine your lace color.
